An analysis of participation in a universal open online course: The case of digitally assisted teaching and training (eFAN)
Abstract
This article présents how was statistically analyzed the 10,816 subscribers to a MOOC on teaching and learning with technology. Who are the learners? Under which conditions do they follow the MOOC? What do they expect? What activities did they have during the MOOC? With what results? We have mobilized different data sources, indicating their construction methods. These multiple sources allow to assert that the participants’ profile is characterized by more women than men, and prominence of the age group 45-50 years. Participants are mainly located in France, and are mostly secondary teachers with a master degree. They are usually motivated by a desire to change their teaching practices with technologies for the benefit of their students.
